At the start of 2026, Healthwatch Wirral supported Wirral Council’s consultation with people who use Day Services and Wirral Evolutions services by providing independent support to help individuals complete their questionnaires. We visited seven Day Service locations over a three-month period to help people understand the consultation and share their views in an accessible way.

Way Forward is Healthwatch Wirral’s non‑clinical High Intensity Use (HIU) programme, designed to support people who frequently attend urgent and emergency care. Rather than focusing on treatment in hospital, the project gives personalised, community‑based support to help people understand what help is available and how to feel more confident in managing their health and wellbeing.

This Wirral MSK self‑referral review presents findings from calls made by Healthwatch Wirral to residents who self-referred into the Wirral Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. These calls aimed to understand people’s experiences of the self‑referral process, including how easy it was to use and whether they faced any accessibility challenges.
