Wirral Day Services Consultations – Independent Support

What were the consultations?

At the start of 2026, Healthwatch Wirral supported Wirral Council’s consultation with people who use Day Services and Wirral Evolutions services by providing independent support to help individuals complete their questionnaires. We visited seven Day Service locations over a three-month period to help people understand the consultation and share their views in an accessible way. The consultations sought to inform Wirral council’s future planning of Day Services.

What did we achieve?

We provided one-to-one support to individuals taking part in the consultation, using clear and accessible language to explain questions, giving people time to consider their responses, and ensuring their views and preferences were captured independently and accurately.

Impact of our contribution

The report reflects the importance of independent support in enabling meaningful participation and includes positive feedback from parent carers and Wirral Council. We are privileged to have worked collaboratively with Wirral council and Mencap Wirral, and welcomed the opportunity to assist people to have their voices heard.
