What Wirral told us: July-August 2026
29 September 2026

During July and August 2026, 90 people shared feedback with us about 50 health and care services. A further 164 people contacted us for information and advice.
People told us about both positive and difficult experiences. Hospital care, GP practices and mental health services were among the most discussed, while communication, access and people’s experiences of staff were the strongest recurring themes.
What we heard
- GP services: Some people described unexplained medication changes, limited follow-up after tests and difficulty discussing several health concerns in a ten-minute appointment. Others felt listened to and received the referral they needed.
- Dentistry: People continued to struggle to find NHS dental care. Care homes reported particular difficulties registering residents or arranging home visits, although some people praised timely appointments and caring dentists.
- Hospital care: People valued quick referrals, diagnostic tests and kind, reassuring staff. Others experienced confusing appointment messages, difficulty contacting departments, delays receiving results and uncertainty around discharge arrangements.
- Other services: We heard about long waits and limited updates at walk-in centres, difficulties using the NHS App, and mixed experiences of ambulance and mental health services.
How your feedback is making a difference
Feedback about the new ANPR parking system at Arrowe Park Hospital led us to contact Wirral University Teaching Hospital. We were invited to visit, see how the system works and discuss possible improvements.
Feedback of NHS dentistry also shaped our work to understand the experiences of Care Homes in accessing dental appointments and other services for their residents. You can read more in our Care Home Access Report.
We will continue sharing the themes we hear with the organisations that plan and provide local services.
