About Daleside Nursing Home, Rock Ferry

Healthwatch Wirral carried out an Enter and View visit to Daleside Nursing Home in Rock Ferry on 8th September 2026. The Home provides nursing, residential and dementia care for up to 43 residents. At the time of our visit, 34 residents were living at the Home, supported by 44 members of staff. Daleside is operated by We Care Group, which runs 28 care and nursing homes across the North of England.

The Home is situated in a converted three-storey building. Daleside has undergone ongoing refurbishment and redecoration, with further improvements planned, including bedroom renovations, a new hairdressing salon, improvements to communal areas and landscaping of the garden.

Report Summary

Healthwatch Wirral Authorised Representatives found Daleside Nursing Home to be a supportive environment, with staff demonstrating an understanding of residents’ needs and treating people with dignity and respect. The Home was observed to be tidy and well maintained in most areas, with comfortable communal lounges, personalised bedrooms and ongoing improvements to the building and facilities.

During the visit, staff were observed engaging with residents in a friendly, supportive and considerate manner. The Manager described a range of measures to support residents’ health and wellbeing, including falls prevention initiatives, regular care plan reviews, staff training, safeguarding procedures and access to healthcare services. Staff also described positive working relationships with local healthcare providers, including GP services and the Urgent Care Response Service.

The visit highlighted positive practices, including good staff retention, regular engagement with residents and families, and a commitment to improving the Home’s environment and services. Healthwatch Wirral also identified areas for further consideration and made recommendations relating to maintenance, ventilation, dementia-friendly signage and menus, garden accessibility and fire evacuation arrangements.
