Free Event: A Practical Guide to Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA)

News - 22 April 2026

ster promoting a free Lasting Power of Attorney Wirral event by Healthwatch Wirral, explaining LPAs for finance, health and welfare, held in Wallasey on 6 May.

About The Event

Planning for the future isn’t always easy, but understanding Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) in this free event can make a huge difference to how decisions are made if you ever lose capacity.

Healthwatch Wirral is hosting a free, informative session to help local people understand what LPAs are, why they matter, and what can happen if you don’t have one in place.

This session will be facilitated by Healthwatch Wirral and led by award‑winning solicitor Peter Edwards, who will explain LPAs clearly and answer your questions in a supportive setting.

What You’ll Learn

At this event, you can find out:

  • What Lasting Powers of Attorney are
  • Why LPAs are so important
  • Practical tips for setting an LPA up
  • Key things to consider once an LPA is in place
  • What happens when a person has lost capacity
  • What to do if you don’t have an LPA
  • Answers to your questions
  • Take part in group discussion and shared learning

Many people assume their next of kin will automatically be able to make decisions for them, but this isn’t the case. Without an LPA, any important choices about your health, care, and finances could be made by people who don’t know you or the best interests of those closest to you.
