Survey: Using AI for health information before GP appointments

Researchers at Liverpool John Moores University are asking people to take part in a short online survey about artificial intelligence (AI), such as ChatGPT, and how it may affect the way people look for health information before seeing their GP.

Who can take part?

You can take part if you are aged 18 or over, live in the UK, have had a GP appointment in the last 12 months, can read and understand English, and have access to the internet.

You do not need to have used AI to complete the survey. The researchers want to hear from people with a range of experiences.

What is the survey about?

The survey asks about people’s experiences of finding health information before a GP consultation, including whether they have used AI tools. It may also ask about your confidence using digital technology, how prepared you felt before your appointment, and whether you felt listened to or involved in decisions during your consultation. The findings will help researchers better understand how AI may be changing the way patients prepare for and experience healthcare appointments.

How long will it take?

The survey should take around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Taking part is voluntary and anonymous. After finishing the survey, you can also choose to enter a separate prize draw to win a £50 voucher.
