What does Healthwatch Wirral do with your feedback?

News - 20 October 2025

Every day, people in Wirral share their stories with Healthwatch about the care they receive. Some tell us what worked well, others highlight problems or gaps. But what happens next?

Your feedback doesn’t stop with us – here’s how we use it to make a difference:

  • We listen and record
When you tell us about your GP, hospital, pharmacy, social care or any other health and care service, we record your experience.
  • We look for patterns
One story is important, but when we hear the same thing from several people it can show a wider issue. For example, long waits for appointments, problems with prescriptions, or positive changes that are making life easier.
  • We share with decision-makers
We regularly meet with Wirral Council, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and many other partners. We anonymise what you tell us and use it to make sure your voice is part of their decision-making.
  • We publish reports
Our reports bring together what people have said, highlight themes, and make recommendations. These reports are shared publicly and with the organisations that can make changes.
  • We follow up
We don’t just hand over your feedback – we ask providers and commissioners what they are doing about it, and we check back to see if improvements are happening.

Your stories make a real difference. By speaking up, you help shape better health and care for everyone in Wirral.
