About Mariner’s Park Care Home
Healthwatch Wirral carried out an Enter and View visit to Mariners’ Park Care Home. It is a 36‑bed residential, nursing and dementia care home located on the Mariners’ Park Estate overlooking the River Mersey.
The Mariners’ Park Care Home provides residential care and nursing care. It also offers short breaks and respite care for retired seafarers and their dependants.
The Mariners’ Park Care Home is located within the Mariners’ Park Estate, where all residents are retired seafarers and their dependants, and their care and support is the provider’s priority.

Report Summary
During the visit, Healthwatch observed that the home is modern, clean and well‑run, with welcoming managers and staff. Residents appeared comfortable and well cared for. Both residents and families spoke positively about the quality of the care, food, and environment.
Within Mariners Park, Healthwatch Wirral observed strong person‑centred care as well as proper medication management, and good access to GP services, supported by the homes’ digital care systems. A notable achievement was a 66% reduction in resident falls, with a focus on proactive risk management.
Families described open communication, long‑standing staff relationships, and being actively involved in care planning. Staff reported extensive training and a positive workplace culture.
The care home continues to face challenges with access to dental services for residents, and Healthwatch shared a small number of environmental recommendations with the management team during the visit.
