Acting in response to the many young people facing mental health difficulties alone due to closure of services, the Open Door Charity have created a bespoke, digitised version of their award-winning mental health service Bazaar – A Marketplace for the Mind for remote use.
Following the announcement of Lockdown 3, the Open Door Charity were faced with the upsetting reality of needing to suspend face-to-face support sessions at the Bloom Building and Blossom Haus, Birkenhead. While the team agreed that it was the right decision to protect the health of their members, they were ultimately concerned about the many young people who would be unable to access other support services at this time.
In response to this, the team have created an innovative new version of their CBT and Mindfulness programme, called ‘Bazaar Solus’, that can be delivered entirely remotely. This creative programme encourages people to disrupt their negative thought processes and replace them with positive, resolute thinking strategies.
The Bazaar programme is available for free for anybody between 17 and 30 years old who is experiencing low mood, anxiety, or stress.
The Open Door Charity are making access licenses available free of charge, to anybody in need anywhere in UK for the duration of the lockdown. Anyone between the ages of 17 and 30 can sign up for the remote Bazaar Solus programme by visiting https://www.opendoorcharity.com/contact-us/ and selecting the ‘Access services’ option in the ‘Enquiry Type’ field. Following the enquiry a member of the Open Door Charity team will be in touch and will aim to set you up with an account within 48 hours.
The Open Door Charity offers a range of services for young people and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress or panic attacks. Their mission is around ‘Shaping Change’ in mental health through Empowerment, Culture, and Opportunity. Access to the service is free and immediate – Open Door Charity are proud to have no waiting list, something they have strived for since opening in 2011. Alongside their ‘Bazaar’ programme, they provide the local community with a creative and social space, Bloom Building and Coffee, which offers hot desking, workshops, gigs, festivals, exhibitions and tenancies.
