An update from Sir David Henshaw, Chair and Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust
We are pleased to share the fantastic news that our Maternity Services at Arrowe Park and the Seacombe Birth Centre in Wallasey have been rated as good, with areas of outstanding practice, by the CQC – in reports out yesterday, links to which are available here.
As you may know, this inspection is part of the national review into maternity safety currently underway by the CQC. You can imagine therefore how pleased we were to receive the report and the CQC findings that our services stood out as safe, well led and as providing high standards of patient experience and safety in this vital area of maternity care.
The achievement is great news for our Wirral community, patients, families, women and birthing people. The report is full of really encouraging feedback about how Wirral University Teaching Hospital Trust is delivering on key priorities like addressing health inequalities, keeping people safe and well cared for and giving babies the best start in life.
The report also recognises the hard work of our amazing and dedicated staff, who the CQC said should be proud of their achievements and who are absolutely focussed on providing safe and effective maternity care.
