Volunteering opportunity – EmpowerED Community Ambassador/Champions

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, EmpowerED Provider Collaborative, is proud to be working in partnership with the local community to recruit EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions. As key connectors EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions live or work in the community and volunteer their time to promote Adult Eating Disorders support across the North West.

You do not need any formal qualifications to become an EmpowerED Ambassadors or Community Champions as the Lead Provider Collaborative will provide mandatory training which will need to be completed before volunteering can be undertaken. We are looking for people who:

  • Live or work in the North West
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Wish to make a difference in your community
  • Has a positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Able to work with others in a respectful and non-judgmental way
  • Have enthusiasm and willingness to help others in the community
  • Have a sensitive and caring attitude
  • Reliable and flexible

You are rooted in your community and workplace. Your messages will complement ongoing engagement and communication methods delivered by EmpowerED Lead Provider Collaborative. EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions are essential to:

  • Bring local people and services together to make positive change.
  • Share key messages, information, learning and opportunities about adult eating disorders
  • Signpost families/carers to local carers services for support
  • Identify barriers to accessing services
  • Share opportunities for training, work experience and employment across the EmpowerED Lead Provider Collaborative and partners
  • Promote local and national campaigns to support adult eating disorders
  • Promote national Carers Week, Carers Rights, and support services

Common activities of EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions include:

  • Share key messages from the EmpowerED Lead Provider Collaborative team with your community/workplace and local network using a variety of channels (face to face, email, phone, WhatsApp, social media channels) and formats depending on your preference
  • Make links with existing networks that may want to be involved in receiving information
  • Attend EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions training (online)
  • Attend EmpowerED Ambassadors and Community Champions quarterly network meetings (online)
  • Support local and national celebration and engagement events (Activities may vary on length and location, and can be performed on an individual level or as a team)
